We were ecstatic to book our first family vacation to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. It wasn’t too far away, but far enough to get away for a week! We even brought Bailey along for the trip. Patrick grew up coming here every year with his family, so he knew his way around the island pretty well. It has been nice for him to remember different activities he did with his family like going to see Greg Russell, navigating around South Beach Marina and Harbour Town.
We started out the week getting settled in the cutest 3 bedroom condo. Took it easy unpacking all of the 15 million bags we brought and all of the baby necessities. Gigi, Aunt Colleen and Uncle Kevin came over for a night to celebrate Kevin’s birthday and to spend time with Rhett. We moseyed around South Beach and went to the pool. Rhett loves to splash splash splash – and splash a little more. After pool time we went to The Crazy Crab in Harbour Town for dinner.
Uncle Kevin departed early to attend his first day of nursing school, while Gigi and Colleen stuck around to hit the beach. We had a blast playing in the sand, jumping for joy in the water and catching a few sun rays. Rhett took a little snooze in the stroller and we were able to relax for a bit.
Since then, we having been biking around, hitting the pool, shopping and eating our way through Hilton Head Head. Last night, we were able to continue the family tradition and went to see the famous Greg Russell play under the big oak tree. We had a nice outdoor dinner with live music beside the light house and headed over to watch all of the kids be entertained by such a legend.
Today we hit the beach only to hurry back to the condo in a jiffy. A big storm rolled right in and literally ‘rained’ on our parade. We are taking it easy waiting for it to pass. Only a couple of days left and we will be headed home back to reality!
How many times can I say how lucky we are to live here! Yesterday, Rhett has his first trip to the beach and had the best of times. The weather was beautiful but the water was a little rough due to the wind. I was a little hesitant of the rough seas, but brave little Rhett went right to sleep. Guess it didn’t bother him as much as it did his momma. We headed out to a little island called Wassaw and met a few friends plus Gigi and GrandDaddy. We all anchored our boats and held down the fort for a few hours. With umbrella, beach tent, travel crib, blankets and oh yeah, plenty of sunscreen, we hit the beach with bells on. Fair little Rhett had to be lathered up with sunscreen – he does have two redheads for parents so needless to say, he will never be that super tan beach baby. He loved the wet sand between his toes and the small waves in which Gigi lifted him up to jump over each one. After a couple of fun hours, we hit the water back to the dock for a long deserved boat nap.
